WITCHCRAFT IN THE PEWS (Part 1)
Have you ever attended a church where the pastor was domineering, using fear to manipulate the members? Perhaps a faction in the church seemed excessively controlling and wanted to influence every decision. Whether these people knew it or not, they may have been practicing witchcraft
THE ESSENCE OF WITCHCRAFT
The word witchcraft comes from an old English word, wiccecraft. At its most basic, those who practice witchcraft, witches, use it to manipulate the will of others. In practicing witchcraft, human beings are actually attempting to replicate the wonderful acts of God, either with natural products or with the aid of devils. Scripture gives us three words that describe the occult: divination, sorcery, and witchcraft. These are the three pillars of demonology
Divination
Divination is the fortune-telling portion of the spirit realm. It often works through tarot cards, tea leaves, crystal balls, horoscopes, and palm reading.
Both the Old and New Testaments in the Bible make it very clear that we are to avoid divination of any sort:
(Leviticus 19:31, 20:6; Deuteronomy 18:10-12; 2 Kings 17:41).
The central issue in the prohibition of divination in the Old Testament was that it lead people away from God and attempted to control future events through spells and evil spirits.
(Acts 16:16-19, 13:8-10, 8:18-19).
It was all about control
