JOHN 6:5-7 NKJV

Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.
Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”
JOHN 6:5-7 NKJV

John 6:5, 6 to test him: This was part of God’s educational program (James 1:3, 13–15; 1 Pet. 1:7). It is for refining Philip’s faith, not tempting him to do evil.
John 6:7 One denarius was a day’s wage for a laborer or field hand (Matt. 20:2). Two hundred denarii would have been almost two-thirds of a year’s wages.
