Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

John 6:26 Jesus rebuked their motives. He stated that although the people had seen the signs, they had not accepted them for what they were (proof of His true messiahship), and they were only interested in the physical.
John 6:27 Do not labor for the food: The impression that one must work for eternal life is quickly corrected when Jesus adds which the Son of Man will give you. The Son provides life as a gift (4:10). We are reminded of the servant who said, “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.” We are surrounded by a world of religions that require works to be saved; thus, it seems so difficult to only believe. Set His seal on Him means that the Father has authorized and authenticated the Son as the Giver of life.
