JOHN 4:36-38 NKJV

And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”
JOHN 4:36-38 NKJV

John 4:36 The reaper of a spiritual harvest receives wages—that is, fruit which brings joy. In this case, Jesus sowed by giving the message to the woman. He was about to reap because He would see the whole city saved. Also the disciples were going to reap the harvest that Christ had sown. Note the “hundredfold” wages Jesus promises in Matt. 19:27–29 (1 Cor. 3:6–8; 2 Cor. 5:10).
John 4:37 One sows … another reaps: A vital lesson in discipleship. There are various tasks and laborers in the work of the Lord, but all receive honor alike (1 Cor. 3:6, 7).
John 4:38 Jesus applied what He had just said to His disciples. The others may have been John the Baptist and his disciples. They had labored in Judea (3:22–36). Thus, Jesus’ disciples were reaping what others had sowed (vv. 1, 2).
