JOHN 4:34-35 NKJV

Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!
JOHN 4:34-35 NKJV

John 4:34 My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me: In v. 32 Jesus referred to the food He had and in this verse He tells what it is, namely, doing the will of His Father. Again, Jesus is modeling for His disciples.”Food” is not simply knowing the will of God but doing it. Notice the difference between milk and solid food in Heb. 5:12. Milk is information or input but food is practice or output. Too often we stop with input rather than going on to output or productivity.
John 4:35 In vv. 35 to 38 Jesus puts before the disciples an opportunity for “doing” that will be “food” for them if they take advantage of it. The first part of v. 35 has been taken as a proverb and as an actual fact. No such proverb is known. If this is factual, then this conversation took place in December/January because the harvest began in the middle of April. Actually, Christ is speaking about the approaching Samaritans. In them He sees a spiritual harvest opportunity for which they will not have to wait long.
