HE HIMSELF IS OUR PEACE (Part 2)

HE HIMSELF IS OUR PEACE (Part 2)

For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace,  and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.  And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father (Ephesians 2:14-18)

Verse 17: preached peace - The Greek word for “preached” literally means “to bring or announce good news,” and in the New Testament is almost always used of proclaiming the good news that sinners can be reconciled to God by the salvation which is through Jesus Christ. In this context, Christ, the One who “Himself is our peace” (v. 14), also announced the good news of peace. Afar offand … near. That is to Gentiles and Jews alike.
Verse 18: Access by one Spirit to the Father - No sinner has any right or worthiness in himself for access to God, but believers have been granted that right through faith in Christ’s sacrificial death (Ephesians 3:12; Romans 5:2). The resources of the Trinity belong to believers the moment they receive Christ, and the Holy Spirit presents them before the heavenly throne of God the Father, where they are welcome to come with boldness at any time (Romans 8:15–17; Galatians 4:6, 7; Hebrews 4:16).
