A HOLY TEMPLE IN THE LORD

In whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit (Ephesians 2:21-22)

Verse 21: A holy temple in the Lord - Every new believer is a new stone in Christ’s temple, the church, Christ’s body of believers (1 Peter 2:5). Christ’s building of His church will not be complete until every person who will believe in Him has done so (2 Peter 3:9).                       

Verse 22: A dwelling place of God in the Spirit - The term for “dwelling” connotes a permanent home. God the Holy Spirit takes up permanent residence in His earthly sanctuary, the church, the vast spiritual body of all the redeemed (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20; 2 Corinthians 6:16).
