April 5

April 5

Lord, You are my lamp; the Lord illuminates my darkness. 2 Samuel 22:29

Our bulging prisons prove that rebellion can lead to literal incarceration. But it can just as easily lead to emotional cells of darkness and gloom. Although certainly not all depression is a result of rebellion, willfulness is definitely able to lead to it. I think depression is especially likely if the rebel was formerly close to God. Now that I know the indescribable joy of intimacy with God, I know that living outside His fellowship would depress me. So I am thankful God allows darkness to follow rebellion, because sometimes He uses darkness to lead us to the light!
