IF YOU SHOW PARTIALITY, YOU COMMIT SIN (James 2:9-10)
Sin is any lack of conformity to the will of God, a failure to meet His standards. Transgression is the breaking of a known law. Certain acts are sinful because they are basically and inherently wrong, but they become transgressions when there is a specific law which forbids them.
Partiality is sinful because it is essentially wrong in itself. It is also transgression because there is a law against it. God does not allow us to keep the laws we like and break others.
