“Who do you say I am?”

Peter stepped up to the plate: “The Christ of God” (Luke 9:20). The Christos. The Anointed One. The Messiah. Matthew’s Gospel records the divine approval of Christ over Peter’s inspired response: “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven” (Matt. 16:17). Do you realize that if you know the true identity of Jesus Christ, no preacher or teacher revealed it to you? The Father of all creation, the God who sits on the throne of the universe, pursued you and chose to reveal His Son to you. Remember that the next time you feel insignificant.
