1. One minute we can be so “on target” and the next minute so “off”!
“This shall never happen to you!” (Matt. 16:22). Peter didn’t understand that Christ’s suffering and death were the means by which He would indeed secure the kingdom.Peter understood Christ’s identity, but he didn’t understand Christ’s destiny: the cross, the grave, the right hand of God. However, Peter was not cast away—nor are we in our moments of outlandish foolishness. Glory to God! Christ did not retract Peter’s calling, but He certainly told him a thing or two.
