JESUS ENGAGED HIMSELF IN PEOPLE’S LIVES

JESUS ENGAGED HIMSELF IN PEOPLE’S LIVES

When Jesus went to help Simon’s mother-in-law, Luke 4:39 tells us He “bent over her.” I don’t think I’m reading too much into the picture to imagine a close encounter suggesting deep concern.
Christ could have healed Simon’s mother-in-law from the front porch. He didn’t. He came to her and drew down close. Also, don’t miss the strong implication that Christ involved Himself one-on-one with those He helped.
Once again we have a detail from Luke the physician. Mark also tells of Jesus healing many on this occasion, but only Luke adds the phrase “laying his hands on each one” (v. 40). We will study several encounters in which Christ healed people. Be forewarned against drawing a particular formula for healing based on any one incident. For now, the point is that Christ Jesus had a hands-on approach to ministry—just like He does today. His hands may currently be invisible, but His prints appear in countless restored lives.
