3. “To proclaim freedom for the prisoners” (v. 18).
In many ways long after my salvation I was like the prisoners in Psalm 107:10–16, 20, “suffering in iron chains, / for they had rebelled against the words of God” (vv. 10–11).
Many people sincerely love God, but I don’t think anyone stands to appreciate the unfailing love of God like the believer finally set free from failure. This captive can undoubtedly testify: He sent forth His Word and healed me. Stitch by stitch. Please notice that Christ proclaimed freedom. He didn’t impose it. It remains an offer.
