Gabriel was in no mood for Zechariah’s doubt.

Gabriel was in no mood for Zechariah’s doubt.

The angel answered him, “I am Gabriel,  who stands in the presence of God,  and I was sent to speak to you and tell you this good news. Now listen! You will become silent and unable to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.” (Luke 1:19-20)

Apparently Gabriel was in no mood for Zechariah’s doubt. Those were the last words out of the priest’s mouth for a while. Zechariah’s transgression wasn’t terminal. The promise was still intact, and the old man would still be a father. He just wouldn’t have much to say until his faith became sight (Luke 1:19-20)
