JOHN 3:27-28 NKJV

John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven. You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’
JOHN 3:27-28 NKJV

John 3:27, 28 John the Baptist clarified the relationship between himself and Jesus. First, he talked about himself (vv. 27–29); then he talked about Jesus (vv. 30–36). John explained that he could not accept the position of supremacy that his disciples wanted to thrust upon him because he had not received it from heaven. To attempt to do any work, even God’s work, must be done with divine approval. Too many of our tasks, even in the church, are patterned after the ways of the world. We need to be sensitive to follow God’s commands, even if they fly in the face of what the world thinks is “smart.” We don’t have to be poured into the mold of this world’s system. We can be transformed from the inside out by applying God’s Word (Rom. 12:2).
