JOHN 1:19 - 2:11 NKJV
John 1:19—2:11 This passage records the events of a week at the beginning of the ministry of the Lord. On the first day John the Baptist testified to the Jewish leaders (1:19–28). On the next day (1:29) John bore witness again (1:29–34). Again the next day (1:35) John testified to two of his disciples who became followers of Christ (1:35–42). The following day (1:43) Jesus added two more disciples (1:43–51). On the third day (2:1), that is, the third day from the last day mentioned, Jesus took His new-found disciples to Canaan. Travel from Bethabara (Bethany) near Jericho of Judea (1:28) would probably take three days of walking. Thus, 1:19—2:11 carefully marks out the first week of witnesses.
