Matthew 24:28-29 (NKJV)

Matthew 24:28-29 (NKJV)

For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

In the parallel passage of Matt. 24:37–44 found in Luke 17:26–37, this statement of Matt 24:28 comes after the question in Luke 17:37 in answer to the question as to where those judged will be taken. This seems then to be a sweeping statement that conveys the image of the horrible carnage that will take place in the judgment at the coming of the Son of Man. This summary verse, therefore, anticipates the very descriptive parabolic expression that will be given in the rest of chs. 24 and  25.
Immediately after: This is the second time reference (v. 15 is the first). Verse 29 moves chronologically to the close of that seven year period. It will be marked by monumental cosmic disturbances (Is. 13:10; 34:4; Ezek. 32:7, 8; Joel 2:30, 31; 4:15; Hag. 2:6; Zech. 14:6; Rev. 6:12–14).
