THAT’S THE DEAL

I can relate to this quote by C. S. Lewis so very well. Not with physical suffering, but with internal suffering. When God brought me through my deliverance from homosexuality, it was a painful process. “The boy chose safety, the man chooses suffering.” The days and nights cannot be counted of the times that I cried going through this process. My emotions were scattered everywhere and fragmented within me. If I could write 1,000 words, it would not suffice to explain it. Only God and I know the work of grace that He accomplished on the inside of me through internal pain. He was right there through it all every step of the way; through the entire process.

Do I still have days when I cry? Yes, but for the better. His presence can be felt in every one of those tears as I walk through this life. Was it worth it all? Yes, for in those emotional and heart-wrenching moments of life, we draw closer to God. O ever so much closer to Him. No one likes to be in pain, whether it is physical or internal suffering; but God grows us through the heart-wrenching scenes of life, conforming us into the image of His Son until we remain forever by His side; 

The pain that we experience now is part of the joy that we will experience then.
