DISCOVERING GOD'S DAILY AGENDA
The Jewish priests daily entered the sanctuary to burn incense and trim the lamps. Once a week they replaced the showbread. Once a year, on the Day of Atonement, the high priest entered God’s presence. Clearly, the old covenant did not provide for full fellowship between God and His people.
The blood of Christ changed that, though. His death on the cross was the perfect and complete sacrifice for humanity’s sins. In fact, no sin or offense is so great that Jesus’ atonement cannot make you clean and holy.
In addition to offering this forgiveness and cleansing from sin, Jesus is also our Advocate. Seated at the right hand of God—a sign that His sacrificial work is finished—Jesus has constant access to His Father, and He receives everything He asks for on our behalf.
We will face temptations and difficult circumstances. At times our strength may fail and our faith may waiver, but we have this hope: Christ our High Priest forever intercedes for us with the Father. He is victorious over death and sin, and He will bring us victory as well.
