THE ELECT IN THE TRIBULATION (Part 7)

And the Word of the LORD came to me…….

The elect can now be consistently interpreted in Matthew 24. They are not Gentile believers in the tribulation, but are God’s chosen and the days will be shortened for their sake. This period of time is specifically called the Time of Jacob’s (Israel’s) trouble (Jeremiah 30:7).  John saw in his vision how “war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon.” (Revelation 12:7).

Daniel received the same information about that war in which Michael fights on behalf of the Jews, “At that time Michael the great prince who stands watch over your people (Israel) will rise up. There will be a time of distress such as never has occurred since nations came into being until that time (reiterated by Jesus in Matthew 24:21). But at that time all your people (Israel) who are found written in the book will escape” (Daniel 12:1).

As we continue reading in Revelation 12 we see “he (the Dragon) persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child…left to wage war against the rest of her offspring” (Revelation 12:13, 17). Again, Satan’s wrath is directed against the Jews. In Daniel 7:21 we see the same thing - the Little Horn (Antichrist) “waged war against the holy ones and was prevailing over them.” In Revelation 13:7 the war is against the Jews - “And he was permitted to wage war against the saints and to conquer them.” In the parallel passage it states “He will speak words against the Most High and oppress the holy ones…and the holy ones will be handed over to him for a time, times, and half a time (Daniel 7:25). Notice the saints (Jews are given into his hand for 3 ½ years (1,260 days), which is the same as in Revelation 12:6 - “The woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared by God,  to be fed there  for 1,260 days.” 

  

In each of those parallel passages, the Jews are the ones in the throes of the Tribulation. It is the Time of Jacob’s trouble which is why Jesus spoke of the days needing to be shortened on behalf of the Jews, God’s elect.
