THYATIRA - The Corrupt Church

STUDY GUIDE

Revelation 2:18-29

1. Son of God – emphasizes Christ’s deity, that He is of one essence with the Father (John 5:18).

2. Nothing can be disguised, covered, or hidden from Christ (Revelation 19:12; Daniel 10:6).

3. Christ’s feet glows brilliantly as depicting His purity and holiness as He tramples out impurity(Revelation 19:15).

4. Thyatira was showing love for God and for one another.

5. The true Christians in Thyatira were dependable, reliable, and consistent.

6. Those who love will express that love through meeting the needs of others. (Matthew 16:24-26; 24:13).

7. They were growing in grace, maturing in their Christian lives, and advancing the cause of Christ (2 Peter 1:8).

JEZEBEL SPIRIT

8.  This Prophetess was a false pretender and a woman of commanding influence.

9. The problem was internal compromise and perverse people from within (Acts 20:29-30).

10. To lead other Christians into false doctrine or immoral living is a very serious sin, meriting the most severe punishment (Matthew 18:6-10).

11. The sickbed refers to death and hell, the ultimate resting place for those who refuse to repent.

12. Christ promises to bring the sinning Christians severe chastening, and possibly evenphysical death (1 Corinthians 11:30; 1 John 5:16).

13. Saving faith will inevitably express itself in good works (James 2:17, 26).

14. The “depths of Satan” reveals the twisted belief of Jezebel and her followers that they were free to explore the satanic sphere and then brazenly come to worship God.

15. All believers are to cling to what is good until Christ’s return (Romans 12:9).

16. We overcome by refusing to tolerate evil teaching in the church of God.

17. Power over the nations is the promise of participation in the Millennial Kingdom. (Psalm 2:7-9).

18. The people who rule with Christ will help protect His people and promote holiness and righteousness.

19. While Christians will reflect Christ’s glory, the Morning Star is Christ himself (Revelation 22:16; 2 Peter 1:19).

20. We are to heed the message of the Holy Spirit.

The character of the church at Thyatira is a fair outline of the church period from A.D. 606 – Tribulation.
