CHRIST’S DENUNCIATION OF THE TEACHERS OF THE LAW AND PHARISEES

Matthew 23

Reference              Description

Verse 3                    They tell you what to do, but they don’t practice what they teach. 
                 
Verse 4                    They make demands they themselves do not keep.

Verses 5, 11-12      They love to be observed by others, but not serve in humility.

Verse 13                  They don’t enter the Kingdom of Heaven, and won’t allow others to go in. 
  
Verse 14                   They rob widows in their greed, and make long prayers just for show.

Verse 15                   They convert a Gentile to Judaism, and make him twice as fit for hell as they are.

Verses 16-22            They say that one taking an oath by the sanctuary and altar means nothing, but one taking an oath by the gold of the sanctuary and the gift on the altar is bound by his oath.

Verse 23                    They pay a 1/10 0f everything, but avert justice, mercy, and faith.

Verse 25                     They look righteous on the outside, but on the inside they are full of greed and self indulgence.

Verses 27-28              They appear beautiful on the outside, but on the inside are full of every impurity, hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Verses 29, 31              They decorate the monuments of the righteous, but are sons of those who murdered the prophets
