THE MYSTERY OF HIS WILL (Ephesians 1:9-10)

THE MYSTERY OF HIS WILL (Ephesians 1:9-10)

Having made known to us the mystery of  His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him (Ephesians 1:9-10)

Verse 9: The mystery of His will – In Paul’s usage, the word “mystery,” which is “musterion” in the Greek refers to an aspect of God’s will that was previously hidden or obscured, but now was being revealed by God (Romans 11:25). God has forgiven us, chosen us, predestined us, and elevated us—but He’s also made known to us, by His grace, the mystery of life.

Verse 10: He might gather together in one all things in Christ - At the end of this world’s history, God will gather believers together in the Millennial Kingdom, called here “the dispensation of the fullness of the times,” meaning the completion of history (Revelation 20:1–6). After that, God will gather everything to Himself in eternity future, and the new heaven and new earth will be created (Revelation 21:1). The new universe will be totally unified under Christ (1 Corinthians 15:27, 28; Philippians 2:10, 11).
