You have turned things around, as if the potter were the same as the clay. Isaiah 29:16
Please allow God to engrave this truth on your heart: liberty and authority always go hand in hand. During the ministry of the prophet Isaiah, captivity was imminent for the children of Israel because they had a serious authority problem. So he used the example of a marred piece of pottery to help them see this issue more clearly. In essence, God was saying, “Let's get this straight: Me, God. You, human. Me, Creator. You, creature. Me, Potter. You, clay. You obey … not for My good but for yours.”
