DOUBT, ON THE SEA OF FAITH
Kenute P. Curry
Doubt. Hmmm, everyone has been there. A sense of where your faith is sporadically spiraling downward; but then, Jesus shows up. Our mouths drop open, and we are in awe!
Matthew 14:15-16
1. GOD’S JUDGMENTS ARE UNSEARCHABLE, BEYOND HUMAN UNDERSTANDING; AND HIS WAY UNTRACEABLE, INCOMPREHENSIBLE (Romans 11:33). GOD ORDERS EVERYTHING FOR BELIEVERS, SO THAT ALL OF LIFE’S EXPERIENCES WORK TOGETHER FOR OUR ULTIMATE GOOD (Romans 8:28). JOSEPH’S BROTHERS HAD MEANT IT FOR EVIL WHEN THEY SOLD HIM INTO EGYPT, BUT GOD HAD PLANNED IT FOR GOOD (Genesis 50:20).
2. THE LORD IS ASKING US TO SPIRITUALLY FEED THE PEOPLE. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF SPECIFIC WAYS THAT WE CAN ACCOMPLISH THIS IN OUR OWN LIVES.
3. IF YOU LACK WISDOM, ASK GOD IN FAITH, WITHOUT YOUR THINKING DIVIDED BY DISTRUST IN GOD. THE DOUBTER IS LIKE THE SURGING SEA, DRIVEN AND TOSSED BY THE WIND (JAMES 1:5-7).
4. STRONGLY ENGAGE IN BATTLE, WITH FAITH AND A GOOD CONSCIENCE. SOME HAVE IGNORED THEIR CONSCIENCES AND THE TRUTH, AND HAVE SUFFERED SPIRITUAL SHIPWRECK ON THE SEA OF FAITH (1 Timothy 1:18-19).
5. TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART. DO NOT RELY ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING; IT WILL RESULT IN DISASTER (Proverbs 3:5).
6. COMMIT YOUR WAY TO THE LORD AND TRUST IN HIM. GOD’S JUSTICE IS CERTAIN AS THE RISING OF THE DAWN; AND HE WILL ANSWER THE PRAYERS OF HIS PEOPLE (Psalm 37:5-6).
If you are in doubt on the sea of faith, beloved, when Jesus shows up, something big is about to happen; as He calms all of your fears, and your doubt vanishes away into exceeding joy. He is the One and Only. He is closer than you have ever dreamed!
