6. BELIEVING GOD’S WORD IS ALIVE AND ACTIVE IN YOU

6. BELIEVING GOD’S WORD IS ALIVE AND ACTIVE IN YOU

Introduction:

Believing God about real needs, big things. This is where the rubber meets the road. This is a make it or break it right here. Is it going to come to action or not?

The Word of God is full of power. It brings us energy and an effect.

Joshua 1:8 – God says “You get my word in your mouth.” It is time for the Body of Christ to stand up and become the devil’s worst nightmare. We are to be armed and dangerous to the kingdom of darkness.

2 Corinthians 4:1-13 – God is calling the Body of Christ to live out their right to victory. We have been called to be more than overcomers. It is not the enemy’s right to cause us to lose heart. We have been called to the crucified life, but there are so many people that see that crucified existence as some kind of martyr’s lot. What it means is that we are crucified to ourself, so that we can be alive in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. He wants to pour a power through our life that is inconceivable.

1. The most powerful built-in instrument that we have is our mouth. We do not begin to take God up on the power that He has afforded for us. We have not even touched it! Reasons for not doing it are:

(a) Maybe we are not just educated about it.

(b) We are intimidated about it.

(c) We are turned off by the misuse and abuse of authority, therefore we practice none.

Proverbs 18:21 – We are going to eat the fruit of our own lips. It is deeply impacting us what is coming out of our mouths. The tongue has the power of life and death.

2. One reason why God has not released powerful voice to us through the presence of His Holy Spirit is because of the misuse of our tongues. The enemy knows it and he preys on it continually.

Numbers 13:31-32 – This is a serious wrong. Spreading a bad report is huge.

Numbers 14:1-4; 20-23 – In order to get where we need to go, to live out our lives in our Promised Lands, we need our mouths. We need them to work for us, for the things of the Spirit, instead of against us. Our mouths have got to be sanctified and ready to go.

3. If we want to exercise biblical and sound authority, we are going to have to open our mouths and speak some things. There is a power attached to the spoken word that is not attached to the thought word. We have got to have that word meditating in our mind, so it is ready to go.

Romans 10:8-10 – For whatever reason, sovereignly known to God, he has ordained that part of the salvation process, that we are going to confess that “He is Lord” with our mouths.

Matthew 17:19-20 – For some reason, ordained by God alone, He tells us that when we want something to move, we are to tell it to. Get that mountain under your feet, or climb it to see the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 4:2 – There is a difference between repentance and renouncing. Repentance is turning from the sin and receiving the full grace of God’s forgiveness. Renouncing is “literally to speak out against; to say off for one self.” We are literally coming to our feet, verbally saying to the thing; it is the way we publically proclaim, however that it may be. Renounce it in the power of the Spirit, and remove all attachment to it.

4. Word of God (rhema, Greek), certain specific words. You put the Word of God with prayer; it is like putting two sticks of dynamite together. You have got a double-portion explosion.

2 Corinthians 4:13 – When he put His Spirit within us, it is as if He breathed His Spirit into us. When He wrote the Word of God on the page, He breathed it as the Spirit of truth on the page. This needs to become a lifestyle to us; it is spiritual CPR. As we believe, we inhale His words. When we believe, we are taking it in. As we speak, we exhale God’s words. Inhale it and believe it! We believe, therefore we speak. Let the Word of God come out of our mouths.

So very often we feel like we don’t have the energy to pray powerfully, and we just let go of it. We have no idea how much energy defeat is consuming. When you put the Word into prayer it energizes. It brings it to life.

When we use God’s Word, we are casting that burden on God and His Word. It is energizing. Believe God to work!

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 – The enemy cannot read your mind. The only thing that intimidates him is what comes out of your mouth.

5. John 15:7-8 – We are supposed to have powerful prayer lives. They were not meant to be the exception. You are meant to see much affirmative prayer. When the Word of God starts living in us, we begin to know the mind of Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:8/ Psalm 18:19 – Where you were meant to exercise sound biblical authority is a spacious place, but the enemy wants it to be a small place.

2 Corinthians 6:11-12 – This is that feeling we get in the midst of a challenge or conflict, and you have never needed to pray more; and suddenly you feel like you have been struck dumb. That is the enemy trying to make us feel as if we are backed into a corner. Think of the name “Jesus” and speak it.

6. Symbolism of oil is the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 61:1). The Holy Spirit is in residence in us. The Spirit inside of you is flammable. You become a lamp set on a hill for the entire world to see, and you become intimidating to the enemy; and he begins to take notice, that this is not someone that can easily be defeated. The Spirit of truth is within us. With the Word of God, we begin to speak the language of the Holy Spirit within us; He stands up within us, and we are consumed with the holy fire.

When you speak the Word of God, it sounds like God to the devil!
