6. RUTH – CELEBRATIONS
SEEK GOD’S WORD FOR TRUTH
Read the
following passage:
RUTH 4:9-22
Boaz is
sitting with the elders, and the relative has declined any right to Naomi’s
property. What does Boaz announce to this assembly of elders?
What further claim does he extend regarding Ruth?
The elders
respond by saying “We are witnesses!” What is their blessing for Boaz?
Finally, Ruth and Boaz marry. When they have a baby son, how
do the townswomen react? How do they bless Naomi?
Who would this new baby’s grandson be?
FIND
GOD’S WAYS FOR YOU
Read the following passage:
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who
are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon
you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will
find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give
you is light.”
MATTHEW 11:28-30
Who has offered to give us rest from the burdens that weary
us?
A yoke is used to help oxen share a burden. What kind of
yoke does Jesus offer?
What is the weight of the burden Jesus will give us?
What is the nature of Jesus’ character?
STOP
AND PONDER
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and
the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
JOHN 14:6
Are you yoked to Jesus? If not, what hinders you?
THIS
is the family tree of Boaz, beginning with his ancestor Perez: Perez (whose
mother was Tamar), Hezron, Ram, Amminadab, Nahshon, Salmon, Boaz, Obed, Jesse,
and David, who became King of Israel. And from the line of King David came the
Christ, the anointed One of God, Jesus, our Savior and Lord.
