The
Church in Thyatira
The Bible
does not record the founding of Thyatira. It is possible that Lydia and her
household participated in starting the church at Thyatira (Acts 16:14).
Most likely,
the church there was founded as an outreach of Paul’s ministry at Ephesus (Acts
19:10)
Acts 16:14 - Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the
city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the
things spoken by Paul.
Acts 19:10 - And this continued for two years, so that all who
dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
