THE TWO WITNESSES (Revelation 11:3-6)

THE TWO WITNESSES (Revelation 11:3-6)

Based on verse 6, there is little doubt they are patterned or modeled after Moses and Elijah. “The witnesses have the prophetic mantle of these two prophets.”
Matthew 11:14
John the Baptist came wearing the prophetic mantle of Elijah.
The fact that there are two witnesses ties to both testaments:
OT – the testimony of at least 2 witnesses was required to settle a legal matter. (Deuteronomy 19:15)
NT – Jesus sent His missionaries out in twos. (Luke 10:1)
Luke 9:28-31
God is the God of the living and not the dead. Those who have gone before us are completely alive, and having conversations.
In the Greek, the word for “departure” is ἔξοδος éxodos. Elijah and Moses had some really strange departures. Christ was about to have the strangest departure known to humanity. Everything about Revelation is the final Exodus from earth, as we know it, in its injured state from Genesis 3. Moses represents the Law, and Elijah represents the Prophets and the Kings, under the Old Covenant.
