THE RESURRECTION BODY OF JESUS

THE RESURRECTION BODY OF JESUS
DAVID JEREMIAH
There was something unique about Jesus’ resurrection body. It could penetrate solid matter —not only grave cloths, but also stone walls and locked doors. Many people have assumed this meant his body was ghostly —less solid than physical matter. But this was not the case. Jesus’ resurrected body was now fit to inhabit heaven, the ultimate reality, which made it even more solid than the matter in our dimension. Physical barriers like walls, grave cloths, and stones could not prevent him from passing through. This gives us insight about why the stone was rolled away: it was not to let Jesus out; it was to let us in. It was a message from God so his followers would know that the tomb was empty.

Then, sensing a presence outside the tomb opening, she turned to see a man standing there. She assumed he was the caretaker and asked where he had taken Jesus’ body. But the moment he uttered her name, she recognized his voice —he was the risen Jesus! Brimming with joy, she ran to tell the disciples that she had seen the risen Jesus and to deliver his message.
